Gram Sudhar Samiti (GSS) plays a critical role in strengthening rural value chains by empowering Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Self-Help Group (SHG) collectives. The organisation focuses on enabling communities to move beyond primary production towards value addition, enterprise development, and market integration.
GSS supports producer groups across the entire value chain—right from processing and production to branding, packaging, and market access. The organisation has facilitated the establishment of processing units for a wide range of products including millets, pulses, honey, amla, mahua, tamarind, oils, and other non-timber forest produce (NTFP).
To ensure better returns for producers, GSS actively builds market linkages by connecting FPOs and SHGs with government platforms and private buyers, helping them access fair and higher-value markets. As a result of these efforts: 4+ FPOs have been strengthened 2,000+ farmers and producers have been linked to improved market opportunities
These interventions have led to increased incomes, enhanced product value, and reduced dependency on middlemen, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and self-reliant rural economies. By integrating enterprise development with community institutions, GSS continues to create scalable models for inclusive rural growth and market-driven livelihoods.
